As some may know, June 19th is considered "Juneteeth" in the United States, and is recognized as a holiday in many states. Juneteeth commemorates the day in which enslavement ended for Black Americans living in the United States on June 19 1865. It is also known as Emancipation Day or the Day of Freedom in our communities and directly celebrates the plight of Black Americans in the U.S. who overcame the atrocities of enslavement and oppression which led our generations forward.
